Thanks to the 12th place obtained in today's Mass Start, the Alto Adige became the first Italian to conquer the overall standings of the Biathlon World Cup.

The race was won by Öberg, who won the specialty cup. Behind the Swede came Tiril Eckhoff and the surprising Clare Egan. The three athletes fighting for the crystal ball have paired: Kuzmina 10a, Vittozzi 11a and Wierer 12a.
Right from the start Kuzmina took the lead to keep up the pace. On his trail they took Herrmann and Mäkäräinen, closely followed by the two Italians. The group has gradually grown but the first real selection, as usual, took place at the polygon.
Here the Slovak and Lisa Vittozzi made a couple of mistakes, while Dorothea Wierer did not make a mistake and left the pitch in the company of Hanna Öberg and Paulina Fialkova, the two rivals for the specialty cup.
In the second round Wierer started to pull the leading group, to which Marte Olsbu Røiseland, Tiril Eckhoff and Kaisa Mäkäräinen followed. Behind Kuzmina tried to force to reduce the gap, which however remained in the order of 45 ".
At the polygon Wierer went into crisis and missed three targets, slipping into 22nd square. Kuzmina, on the other hand, found a discreet 4 out of 5 and passed through the middle with 1’11 â€from the head. In the middle of the race there was a trio of Öberg, Fialkova and Eckhoff, all still without a penalty.
The third series was very selective and all the top athletes, except Clare Egan, made one or more mistakes. The American, thanks to the precision on the pitch, took third place to 10 "from the Swedish and Slovak, which she then reached during the penultimate lap. Kuzmina and Wierer had to go through another round of penalties and passed through the middle in 10th and 15th place.
After a penultimate meeting, everything was decided at the fourth polygon. The wind has grown further and errors have rained. Hanna Öberg was able to wait for the gust to pass and she found a precious 4 out of 5 that allowed her to win the race and the specialty cup.
In the final lap the Swede defended herself from Eckhoff's overwhelming comeback, who had to settle for the place of honor. The American Clare Egan has risen to the bottom of the podium.
