With an action on the last lap the Norwegian preceded the German Benedikt Doll on the finish line. Third position for France that in the sprint prevailed over Austria.

The first fraction was very balanced, no athlete was able to make the difference on skis and the polygon did not make a selection. Ukraine was in command at the exchange with Artem Pryma, ahead of France, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Germany and Russia, all held in 6 ". Among the top nations only Austria has been delayed, with Felix Leitner (0 + 3) paying 30 ". Day to forget, however, for Thomas Bormolini (2 + 5), who finished his test in 23rd position at 1'30 "from the head, after having covered two laps of penalties.
The Norwegian Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen received the change from Lars Helge Birkeland and with a quick and precise polygon on the ground he took command of operations, with 10 "ahead of the Russian Evegniy Garanichev and Martin Fourcade. The latter, after using a refill in the first series, stood perfectly and reached Christiansen. In the final round, however, the Norwegian forced the pace and broke the transalpine champion of 6 ". Sweden behind them, with 24 "from the top and 30" a large group including Russia, Germany and Austria. Good performance of Lukas Hofer who reassembled up to the 16th place, recording the best lap time, despite the three refills used.
In the third fraction for Norway came into action Tarjei Bø, who after an excellent first part in which he brought his advantage up to 30 ", has made two mistakes in the standing series. Then came the German Arnd Peiffer and the Austrian Dominik Landertinger, out of the polygon with 10 "to be recovered and transited to the exchange in the company of the Norwegian. Sweden moved to fourth place with Ponsiluoma, while France slipped to sixth place at 30 ". Johannes Thingnes Bø, Julian Eberhard and Benedikt Doll in the final fraction dueled for victory. In the first series the Norwegian found the "zero", taking the lead with 4 "of margin on the German. Standing Bø fired quickly but made three mistakes, which he remedied with refills, but Doll missed a target and the two came out of the paired pitch. In the most difficult section of the track the Norwegian launched the attack, leaving the rival in place, which had to settle for the place of honor.
