Fredrik Lindström, Johannes Bø and Michal Šlesingr have obtained a second place; while Arnd Peiffer and Dominik Windisch stood once again in third place.
So up to now on the podium of the sprint waved the flags of eight different countries, all European: France (4-0-0), Norway (0-1-2), Austria (1-1-0), Russia (0-1 -1), Sweden (0-1-0), Czech Republic (0-1-0), Germany (0-0-1) and Italy (0-0-1).

Among them stands the name of Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, to date the only man to win the 'world championship gold to 4 times (2001, 2005, 2007, 2009).
Norway, however, has not established the record for consecutive wins, held by Frank Ullrich Germany (1979, 1981, 1982) and Mark Kirchner (1990, 1991, 1993), both able to realize a series of three victories in a row.
Not surprisingly, in terms of nations lead the ranking just the German movement, with 11 statements (7 branded DDR and 4 after reunification). Followed by Norway to share 9. They have won 4 times the defunct Soviet Union and France, while Russia won on three occasions. Single success for Finland and Italy.
Including the aforementioned Bjoerndalen, they have five biathletes in activities to claim a world title in the sprint. The Scandinavian add Martin Fourcade (2012 and 2016), Arnd Peiffer (2011), Emil Hegle Svendsen (2013) and Johannes Bø (2015).
Three members of this quintet have on board also medals of less valuable metals. Bjoerndalen got one silver (2016) and 2 bronze medals (2004, 2008); Fourcade 2 silvers (2011, 2013) and one silver Svendsen (2012).
In addition to five world champions, in activities we find five other men on the podium of a World Cup sprint. It is Tarjei Bø (bronze in 2011 and in 2015), Michal Šlesingr (silver in 2007), Jakov Fak (bronze in 2013), Nathan Smith (silver in 2015) and Sergey Semenov (bronze in 2016).
The 'Italy has a privileged relationship with this format since there has collected as many as 8 of the 10 medals won at the individual level in the history of the World Championship event.
In chronological order:
January 31, 1979 in Ruhpolding Luigi Weiss was bronze behind the German dell''Est Frank Ullrich and the Norwegian Odd Lirhus.
February 16, 1985 always in Ruhpolding, Johann Passler was in turn bronze behind the German dell''Est Frank-Peter Roetsch and Norwegian Eirik Kvalfoss.
On 9 February 1996, again in Ruhpolding, René Cattarinussi won the bronze, being preceded by the Russians Vladimir Dratchev (gold) and Viktor Maigourov (silver).
February 1, 1997 in Brezno Osrblie the Italian biathlon touched one of its historical peaks. Wilfried Pallhuber won the 'gold medal, ahead Cattarinussi, silver. Furthermore the Belarusian Oleg Ryzhenkov prevented a sensational hat-trick, since in the same race Patrick Favre quarter closed.
The Aosta Valley is remade a few years later. In fact, February 12, 1999 in Kontiolahti Favre was the 'Silver inserting between the German Frank Luck and the Norwegian Frode Andresen.
The February 19, 2000 in Oslo Cattarinussi returned to the podium, arpionando bronze behind Frode Andresen and Russian Pavel Rostovtsev.
