THE CHOICES OF THE FAVORITE
RELAY HISTORY FEMALE IRIDATAVa remarked as evidence has repeatedly changed connotations over the years. Originally it was a 3x5 km, or three factional traveling along 5 km each. With the 'raising of mileage, which occurred in 1988 -' '89, the relay team took on the shape of 3x7.5 km.
In 1992 - '' 93 the factional climbed to four, with its transformation of the race 4x7.5 km, only if held on the same distance competition by both men and women. Finally, since 2002 - '' 03 it was decided to reduce the 6 km of each fraction, giving the relay to its current shape of 4x6 km.
From the historical point of view you can identify a clear division in the hierarchies, coinciding with the collapse of the Soviet Union. In fact, as long as it existed, the 'USSR was invincible, because he has won all eight world titles up for grabs from 1984 to 1991.
After an impromptu success of the Czech Republic (1993), in the nation's hegemonic role they alternated Germany and Russia.
The German won four consecutive times in the second half of the '90s. After the Russian excelled in four of the five editions played in the first five years of the twenty-first century. So from 2007 on, Schwarz Rot Gold movement was revived by triumphing in five of the last eight world championship relay.
Only Norway has managed to break occasionally this diarchy.
So Germany has nine world titles (1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2015). The Soviet Union has set 8 times (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991). Russia has excelled on 5 occasions (2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2009), Norway in 3 (2004, 2013, 2016) and the Czech Republic in 1 (1993).
Of course the Russians successes can not be assimilated to those Soviets because almost always trios dell''Urss included athletes of other republics, like Estonia and Belarus.
If the winners are only 5 countries (one of which now disappeared off the map), the list of those able to get on one of the lower steps of the podium is definitely longer. In fact there are as many as 14 nations are able to get at least one medal.
Here also controls the Germany with 17 (9-4-4), followed by Norway at 14 (3-6-5). France took the podium 11 times, but never set foot on the top step! Transalpine have in fact collected 8 silver and 3 bronze. It should however be noted that, even without winning the world title, the French were able to win an Olympic gold medal (1992). Russia has nine medals (5-2-2) and the defunct Soviet Union 8 (8-0-0).
6 are Ukraine's podiums (0-3-3), for which it is the same argument made about France (Ukrainian are the Olympic champions in office). Sweden (0-2-1) is credited with 3 metals. Belarus, Finland and Italy (0-0-2) have two medals, mind if we count 1 for Czech Republic (1-0-0), Bulgaria (0-1-0), Czechoslovakia and the United States (0-0- 1).
The blue medals have also arrived most recent editions of the World Cup. The bronze of Nove Mesto 2013 - first historical podium champion for the Italian women's movement - is signed by Dorothea Wierer, Nicole Gontier, Michela Ponza and Karin Oberhofer. The Kontiolahti 2015 bronze was collected by the same athletes, except for Lisa Vittozzi instead of Ponza.
