Italian bobsleigh and skeleton athletes return to Cortina’s Olympic venue: 21 athletes in training

Double training camp on the five-ring track for the Italian national teams, with Baumgartner and his teammates in action from Wednesday 26 to Sunday 30 August, along with the eight members of the skeleton World Cup team.

The Italian athletes in the sliding sports return to Cortina’s Olympic venue for five days of training in the Ampezzo valley.

Technical director Maurizio Oioli has called up thirteen members of the bobsleigh national team, specifically the World Cup A team, for the training camp scheduled from Wednesday 26 to Sunday 30 August: Nicholas Artuso, Patrick Baumgartner, Eric Fantazzini, Robert Mircea, Alex Pagnini, Riccardo Ragazzi, Mattia Variola, Alex Verginer, Giada Andreutti, Noemi Cavalleri, Anna Costella, Simona De Silvestro and Alessia Gatti.

They will be joined by coaches Simone Bertazzo, Elena Scarpellini, Giovanni Mulassano, Costantino Ughi, Omar Sacco and Lorenzo Bilotti.

As for Italian skeleton, Oioli has selected the eight athletes from the World Cup A team for the scheduled training camp, taking place on the same dates as their bobsleigh teammates in Cortina, where Amedeo Bagnis, Pietro Drovanti, Mattia Gaspari, Giovanni Marchetti, Manuel Schwaerzer, Alessia Crippa, Alessandra Fumagalli and Valentina Margaglio will train. Coaches Andrea Gallina and Marco Boni will also be involved.
