A reality that works hard to guarantee a future for a national movement that has clearly been in difficulty for years, but which finds a fundamental point of reference in the Bob Club Cortina. With the Olympic Games of 2026 decisive for having a perspective, but also the doubts related to that gut that has been discussed for some time.
With Gianfranco Rezzadore, number 1 of the Ampezzo association, we talked about various issues, starting with the first of the many trips abroad that the Bob Club Cortina is forced to face in order to allow its athletes to train. "The boys have been in Bludenz since mid-week (they will stay there until November 8, ed) - explains the president - It is a short but very technical track, ideal for gaining experience with our six young people from classes ranging from 1999 to 2006, and for the two parabob pilots.
With them there are four technicians, two on the track and two trainers: we started with three descents for each rider, someone has already experienced the thrill of overturning, but without consequences. Two boys from 2006 that we would like to take to the next Youth Olympics are part of this young project, which we presented to the FISI, the other elements come from the selections made to the push-pull tricolors last summer and from the September test. Guys with good athletic quality who, if we can get them to ride in the right way, really have the requirements to enter the ranks of the national team, even if the path is long and complex.
They will do the real “drivers course” on more demanding tracks in the coming months, but we are happy to have let them have this first experience and we hope it will be the push to find other young people for the next seasons, thinking about the 2026 Olympics ”.
And here we are talking about the Olympic track that has not yet seen the light, or the start of the works to host the gut competitions in Cortina in just under four and a half years. “I am confident, after hearing the words of Governor Zaia who expressed himself clearly on the fact that the track will be built - Rezzadore tells us again - Without it, for our world it would be a disaster and practically impossible to move forward.
Without that perspective, how could one think of continuing? I believe that the works will start by the end of the year, the goal is to conclude them by autumn 2024, in order to compete in the pre-Olympic competitions for the following spring ”.
All that remains is to wait, once again.
