"La Pista" in Lainate, in via Juan Manuel Fangio, is the perfect location for the launch of a season on skis, between speed and "narrow" ones, but also for the snowboarding boards that make the Italy for years.
And so, this afternoon the FISI opened the 2021/22 season with an event that saw nine great Italian champions of the winter disciplines as protagonists, just under two weeks from the opening of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Soelden (23 -24 October). Not just skiing, even if the squadron led by Marta Bassino, Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia, Dominik Paris and Luca De Aliprandini, all present in the Milanese location, is clearly the point of reference. Thinking about the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, the great goal of next season (but not for everyone), Dorothea Wierer and Federico Pellegrino are also dreaming, in search of the first five-circle title, and snowboarding with Michela Moioli, reigning Olympic champion in snowboard cross, and Aaron March, who is the last winner of the World Cup for alpine disciplines.
The special guest? Giovanni Malagò, with the president of CONI back from the sensational summer Olympics in Tokyo who is already daydreaming towards China, applauding the great work done by the FISI in recent years, as evidenced by the results obtained at various levels. "We think of Beijing 2022, but also of our Winter Olympic Games, those of Milan-Cortina 2026 - declared the number 1 of Italian sport - There we will also have another discipline where Italy is very competitive, ski mountaineering .
If we talk about the Games in China, they will be truly unique Olympics because it has never happened to have two editions so close together. We will have the eyes of the world on us since there will be the handover for 2026, but also because now a lot is expected from our blues. We will go to Beijing with a competitive team on various fronts ”.
Precisely with a view to the Winter Olympic Games, Flavio Roda has announced an important novelty, with the introduction of a prize pool of one million euros, which goes beyond the CONI contribution, for athletes medalized in Beijing. "The FISI has decided to reward the athletes for their great commitment - the words of the federal number 1 - The Council has already approved this choice, there will be a ranking and, in fact, a million available".
Roda also spoke about the global situation linked to the mountain world, in this phase of the pandemic that is finally leading to reopening. “We have decided to make the Green Pass a priority to be able to ski next season, the protocol has been defined and we are confident. Thanking the athletes who have given us great boost and visibility with their results, now we have to think about investing a lot in young people so as not to suffer in certain disciplines, already thinking about the future. Also and not only for Milan-Cortina 2026 ”.
The FISI has announced the renewals of the various partnerships for the 2021/22 season, from RTL 102.5 which will still be the official radio partner with Sofia Goggia as a special testimonial with her interventions, to Telepass sponsor of the Alpine ski national team up to '' agreement with ilmeteo.it which will be the reference between the site and the federal app.
VOICE TO ATHLETES
Luca De Aliprandini is still looking for the first podium in the World Cup, but that silver in the home world championship, Cortina 2021, is the gem of a career that now sees the Trentino giant in full maturity, so much so that in Soelden he will restart from top 7 of the specialty WCSL. “I thought about recovering and training at my best, having a good summer. I am calm, aware of the level reached and with the urge to remain there in front with constancy. It won't be easy, with a lot of strong opponents, but let's think about starting well ”.
And how is Dominik Paris? An ideal preparation, after the one clearly halved following the injury in January 2020, “even if we didn't go to South America which represented the ideal situation to train. However, we have put together good days on the track and I look forward to the season with confidence. The Olympic Games? I've said it several times, I'm certainly aiming for a medal since I didn't succeed in 2018, but let's think about the World Cup races first ”.
It is the same thought of Federica Brignone, who wants to “win the Olympics, because it is anything but taken for granted given that there are many high-level athletes for only four places at each race. I'm fine and I'm calm, I can't wait to start ".
Marta Bassino and Sofia Goggia, who start again with a specialty World Cup on the showcase after the triumphs of last year between giant and descent, travel with ... lights off.
