A very uncertain second round, with the top 12 within less than 9 tenths.
The giant from Soelden who opens the men's World Cup is almost a lottery game, considering also that there is a big surprise up front that goes by the name of Roland Leitinger. The Austrian dreams of his first triumph, on a track he adores, but he will have to contain the fury of all the big favorites, far from far away if we think that the world champion Faivre pays 19 cents, Odermatt 21 and Kranjec 27, with Gino Caviezel and especially Pinturault further away.
In tenth place is Luca De Aliprandini, who is looking for his fourth top ten on Rettenbach: a complicated podium mission, more than 6 tenths of a second behind Odermatt and his associates, in the decisive heat traced by the Swiss coach Krug.

There are two other Azzurri who have hit the top 30 and they will be the ones to open the decisive heat. Riccardo Tonetti, inside for a cent, will start with 2 ”02 to recover from Leitinger, while Simon Maurberger closed the 1st heat in 29th place, 18 cents ahead of his compatriot. Nothing to do, we remember, for Della Vite, Zingerle, Vinatzer and Franzoni, with Borsotti who did not finish.
