Biography: Florian Eckert, born in 1979, is a former German speed specialist in downhill and super-G. At the 2001 World Championships in St. Anton he won the bronze medal in downhill, one of the major results of his career, and later added a gold medal in the team event at the 2005 Worlds. On the World Cup circuit he achieved podium finishes and many top-ten results, particularly on the classic European speed courses.
