Biography: Josef Jennewein, born in 1919 in Sankt Anton am Arlberg, was one of Germany’s strongest alpine skiers in the pre-World Cup era. He excelled in the technical events and the combined, winning the combined world title at Zakopane in 1939 and adding further medals in slalom and downhill. In those years he ranked among the top racers on the international scene before the Second World War cut his ski career short.
