Biography: Max Rauffer, born in 1972, was a German speed specialist in downhill and super-G. He made history for German skiing by winning the World Cup downhill in Val Gardena in 2004, the first German man to triumph in that discipline after more than a decade. Throughout his career he added further podiums and many top-ten finishes, as well as several national titles in downhill and super-G.
