Biography: Roman Wörndle, born in 1913 in Partenkirchen, was one of Germany’s strongest alpine skiers of the 1930s. He earned a bronze medal in slalom at the 1937 World Championships in Chamonix and claimed other notable results in combined and on the classic courses of the era. Active before the creation of the World Cup, he helped establish Germany as a leading nation in international alpine skiing.
