She had come out, to say the least, dejected, from the second descent on the Oreiller-Killy in which she had failed to confirm the good performance of the previous day (16th, but very fast in the central section), ending up outside the points area. Even today, Marta Bassino has shown that she is now a mature champion, able to immediately regain confidence after difficult days, also considering what happened in the giant number 2 in Courchevel. The 4th place in the super-g that concluded the weekend in Val d''Isère, the second best career placement in the discipline after the place of honor in Bansko, is really worth a lot: "This was the race at which I was more interested in the weekend, I am very satisfied with my skiing, even if the podium was close it can be fine. Fortunately the super-g started lower than the descent, in the central part there were some nice corners, just like I like them. There is still something to fix, but it's nice to know that you can still grow and I always feel better in this discipline too. The first part of the season ends with a largely positive balance, there are some small highs and lows but this is normal, I will try to extend this beautiful moment even more ". Among the four blue in the first eight, a Sofia Goggia also arrived who, after the one-two downhill, today had to settle for seventh position after messing around too much in the upper part: "A race that leaves me some regrets , I made a mistake right away at the top and I took the disadvantage all the way, with one tenth less I would have collected another place in the top 5. Basically I aspire to something more - adds the rider from Bergamo - but it was still a positive weekend, with a downhill victory that allows me to wear the red bib again, even if in cohabitation with Suter. In supergiant I skied without infamy and without praise, it is a specialty in which I still have to work ". And now under with Semmering for the giant of 28 December.
