The first women's race of the Aspen Finals will be the descent, race that has yet to give his cup although it specialties for Ilka Å tuhec is little more than a formality.

Aspen is a town located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is one of the most important as far as alpine skiing, so as to have hosted several races of the World Cup since 1968, and the edition of the World Cup of 1950, in which Zeno Colo was protagonist with gold medals in Downhill and Giant and silver in Slalom.
ASPEN PREVIOUS
Until now they were played 5 descents of the World Cup in Aspen. No girl has managed to establish themselves in more than one occasion: gold albo fact appear Nancy Greene, Brigitte Totschnig Habersatter, Elisabeth Kirchler, Brigitte Örtli and Britt Janyk.
One woman has instead managed to climb to 2 times on the podium of this race. This is Regine Mösenlechner, depending both in 1981 behind Kirchler in 1988 beaten by Örtli. No podium instead of the blue: the best result in an Aspen Descent is the tenth of Michaela Marzola of 5 March 1988.
BOWL OF SPECIALTIES 'DESCENT
The Aspen Downhill also sanction those between Ilka Å tuhec and Sofia Goggia win the cup in 2016-17 specialties. In truth only the math holds the blue in the race, as the Slovenian leads the standings with 497 points against the 400 of the only opponent still capable of removing them from the trophy. This means that only and only Goggia must win and hope Å tuhec finish outside the top 15 or withdraws.
If instead Štuhec did succeed, he would become the ninth woman in history to complete the double world cup gold-specialty / Olympic Downhill in the same season. Previously there have already succeeded Olga Pall (1968), Annemarie Moser Proell (1974 and 1978), Michela Figini (1985), Katja Seizinger (1994 and 1998), Picabo Street (1996), Renate Götschl (1999), Michaela Dorfmeister ( 2006) and Lindsey Vonn (2009 and 2010).
QUALIFIED TO THE DESCENT OF ASPEN
As known, the Finals can participate in only the first 25 of the ranking of the seasonal specialties in progress, the world junior champion and all those who have gained more than 500 points in the overall standings of the World Cup. Therefore, this is the list of ALL qualified, regardless of their status (the injured or not used to this specialty logically not participate).
