The future of Livio Magoni? "I talked to Swiss-Ski, but not about Wendy Holdener"

The indiscretion of the "Blick" and the words of the Bergamo coach, after the farewell to Petra Vlhova. The director of Swiss Alpine skiing, Walter Reusser, does not rule out the possibility, but there are other slopes open.

The hypotheses are many and around its name there are various interests of the ski market. We are talking about Livio Magoni, less than 48 hours from the official farewell with Petra Vlhova, who will continue his adventure in the white circus without the Bergamo coach at his side. After winning the second World Cup with one of his athletes, eight years after his record-breaking triumph with Tina Maze, the 57-year-old coach from Selvino is clearly coveted by many. Magoni leaves every possibility open, as it should be, at this stage. The colleague Gianmario Bonzi spoke of the hypothesis Slovenia, where there is no real national team, but a series of private teams to follow the tips of the movement, from Ilka Stuhec to Meta Hrovat, with Andreja Slokar (dominant in the European Cup and 5 ^ in the Cortina world slalom) who could now be the athlete to invest in for the future. Stefan Meier and Mathias Germann, on the columns of the “Blick”, advance the Swiss-Ski slope for Livio Magoni. Already a year ago, after the farewell of Wendy Holdener with the historic coach Werner Zurbuchen, it was hypothesized that the technician from Bergamo would arrive to follow the Swiss champion. Nothing came of it, but now the hypothesis of being able to work for the Swiss federation, in an area yet to be defined, comes back into play; Holdener herself, in fact, finds herself without a personal technician since she was followed in particular by Alois Prenn (later hit by Covid) in the season finale after the farewell with the Austrian Klaus Mayrhofer (still under contract with Swiss-Ski) arrived before the World Cup. “It's true, I talked to Swiss-Ski - Magoni confirmed to the“ Blick ”- We didn't talk about Wendy, they were free conversations and I don't know what their plans might be”. If Holdener herself speaks of the Italian coach as "an option that could be considered, never concretely, however, since I never thought they would part with Vlhova", is the director of alpine skiing of the Rossocrocia family, Walter Reusser, to talk about the possible deal, recalling “having had a great past together, celebrating great successes”. Reusser refers to the previous role in Stoeckli, which equipped Tina Maze in the golden years. And there would also be the support of Lara Gut-Behrami for the inclusion of Magoni in the Swiss team, with all the pieces still to be wedged into the complicated Swiss-Ski machine.
