The super calendar by Federica Brignone: renounces to the slalom necessary to shine also in super-g and combined

The Valdostana, at work at Copper Mountain with multi-purpose companions, prepares a real tour de force.

Federica Brignone will live a decidedly intense December, with a personalized calendar in the World Cup that will see her on several fronts. Not surprisingly, the giant PyeongChang Olympic bronze renounced Levi's slalom (which he played in 2010, 2012 and 2014), so he could train between his favorite specialty and the speed on the Colorado snow, for then move directly to Killington for the giant and the slalom on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December. The choice is clear: Federica will play the tests among the rapid gates only when combined with the test between the wide gates (as in Vermont) and, above all, if not included in a full program of races and displacements; with the clear objective, in addition to the giant, to do well in super-g and combined, it remains to decide how many and which descents run in the season, with the same races of Lake Louise that Brignone will not necessarily dispute. Much will depend on how the Aosta Valley will come out of the US weekend, but in any case we will see it in Canada to take part in the super-g on Sunday 8 December. At that point, the matter will be tough as the super faith calendar includes the Sankt Moritz competitions on December 14-15, with super-g (very technical and suited to its characteristics) on Saturday and parallel slalom 24 hours later . Precisely in this specialty, the 29-year-old from La Salle wants to immerse herself without delay to take home those points that could be important to fight for the final podium in the overall standings of the World Cup, even if the declared objective is to take, for the first time in his career, a crystal ball at the level of a single specialty. From Switzerland to France, on Tuesday 17th here is the third seasonal giant in Courchevel (where Alice Robinson will almost certainly return to the race), then in Alta Savoia the appointment with the races of Val d''Isere. Descent on the Oreiller-Killy on Saturday 21 (and also in this case Federica could give up considering the 'commitment of the tests) and first combined the vintage on Sunday 22nd, with slalom combined with the super-g. Finally, the Cup December will end on December 28th-29th with the classic two-day event in Austria which, alternating with Semmering, will see Lienz host the technical competitions. Just where Brignone imposed himself, obviously in giant, on December 29th 2017 ...
