Lake Louise is a place located in Alberta's Banff National Park. After some sporadic edition dated 1989 and 1991 from the 1992-93 season has entered permanently in the calendar of the Women's World Cup becoming the scene of the first stage of seasonal Downhill and Super G, usually the first weekend of December.
Sunday SuperG will close the Canadian triptych. In all, 22 races in this specialty disputatesi since 1992 and, in demonstration of his special feeling with this track, the palm of plurivincitrice up to Lindsey Vonn, able to impose itself on 4 occasions. The supremacy of the US, however, is not as blatant in Descent: at an altitude of 3 wins there are indeed Katja Seizinger and Renate Götschl, while 2 Alexandra Meissnitzer and Lara Gut, the only skier in business to having success in this race along with Vonn.
Vonn also leads the standings of podiums: 4 wins matches to 3 seconds and 1 third place with a total of 8. Behind him there are Hilde Gerg, who despite having never won got five top-three, and Renate Götschl to share 4.
To further highlight the superiority of the most successful skier ever, consider that among Downhill and Super G since 2004, in Lake Louise Lindsey Vonn started 34 times winning 18 victories (53%), 6 second places and one third for a total of 25 podium finishes (73.5%), only one withdrawal (SuperG of 7 December 2007), and only two out of the top ten placings (40 ^ and 11 ^ in the two descents of 2013, or returning after the terrible injury he suffered at the World Championships in Schladming). Numbers nothing short of impressive.
Even in the Super G in Lake Louise Italy can boast some satisfaction: Karen Putzer fact won the December 8, 2002, while Nadia Fanchini won the first victory in the World Cup on December 7, 2008. Two podiums, to be precise two third places dating 1997 and 1999 also for Isolde Kostner, who completes a tally of 2 wins and 4 podiums for the color blue in the Super-G in Lake Louise.
The SuperG which will complete the three-day Lake Louise will be held Sunday, December 4, starting at Italian 20:30 local 12:30.
