In Val d''Is re we try again: on Sunday at 11.00 the women's descent, here is the new startlist

Still snow and strong wind coming, but after today's cancellation we want to try to take home a race after canceling the combined. Goggia, breastplate 15, precedes Delago (17), Marsaglia and Ledecka.

It will try again 24 hours after today's cancellation, even if the hopes of seeing at least one race of the women's World Cup weekend in Val d''Isère go on are not very many. In Haute-Savoie the weather does not bode well, after the heavy snowfalls of the past few hours, even with strong gusts of wind coming; however, the third descent of the season was rescheduled at 11 am on Sunday morning, always on the shortened track of the Oreiller-Killy. The choice to sacrifice the combined is also linked to a simple logistical aspect, that is, having to prepare only one race track and not also manage the slalom that would have followed the heats of super-g. By the way, for the first specialty race skipped on the calendar, the chances of a recovery could be linked to Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, where a descent and a combined one will already be staged on 11-12 January 2020, but it is still necessary work on this front. Seven blue in the race: curiously, the draw of even numbers reassigned the bib number to Federica Brignone, while the new draw led Sofia Goggia to choose the 15, with Nicol Delago (17) and Francesca Marsaglia (18) immediately after the Bergamo and just before the red bib Ester Ledecka, again with 19 and among the big favorites together with the group of Austrians who will start in a fairly distributed way. The other Italians at the start are Marta Bassino (with 25), Elena Curtoni (30) and Nadia Delago with 34. There will be no Petra Vlhova (who would have started with 31 in today's descent), given that the cancellation of the combined combination led the Slovak to opt to return to Milan and take better care of the injured tibia, so as to be in optimal conditions for the Lienz races. And just thinking of the giant and slalom of December 28-29 in Tyrol, it can be said that Mikaela Shiffrin did bingo giving up the weekend in Val d''Isère. Alexandra Meissnitzer also thinks so, who spoke like this to the ORF microphones: “I think Mikaela wanted to test other material, not having felt a great feeling after the Courchevel race. Furthermore, he certainly considered the possibility that the races in Savoy were at least heavily conditioned, if not canceled; we can already say that she is the winner of this stage ”. FEMALE DESCENT - VAL D''ISERE Startlist: 1 Rebensburg, 2 Weirather, 3 Stuhec, 4 Brignone, 5 Venier, 6 Gut-Behrami, 7 Suter C., 8 Haehlen, 9 Schmidhofer, 10 Miradoli, 11 Weidle, 12 McKennis, 13 Siebenhofer, 14 Gisin, 15 Goggia , 16 Tippler, 17 Delago Nicol, 18 Marsaglia, 19 Ledecka, 20 Puchner, 25 Bassino, 30 Curtoni E., 34 Delago Nadia.
