Katharina Liensberger is now a certainty of the world slalom, although even among the giant doors of the giant, the young Austrian has already shown that she can do very well.
Speaking openly to the communication office of the FIS, the talent that took the first (and so far only) career podium last January, in the World Cup slalom in Flachau with the 3rd final place (thanks to the disqualification by Anna Swenn-Larsson), has addressed various issues about its future.
"I feel that I'm improving race after race - the 22-year-old from Feldkirch confesses - and I love the development process to become a faster athlete. Skiing is not just a part of my life, it also gives me enthusiasm and ambition for every day to come. If you work with the right attitude, good results come especially if you have a team like mine that does a great job. "
Not everything was simple, like the disappointment for 4th place in the rainbow slalom of Are (after the silver obtained in the team event). "Yes, it was difficult to digest and of course I was sad about the placement, but I also realized that participating in a world championship at that level was already something to be thankful for."
The pressure in Austria is never lacking, especially on a young woman who is trying to revive a sector of technical specialties undoubtedly in difficulty. Katharina says she is "very happy that most people in my country are enthusiastic about alpine skiing and therefore show interest. I like being acclaimed by the many fans who follow the races, I think it's a great recognition for all of us. During the interviews, I simply try to be myself giving honest answers and showing all viewers how much you love my sport ".
Preparation continues and the goals of the young Vorarlberg are simple: "Summer work is a very important chapter, but real snow training will begin in August, to continue on glaciers near home in the fall. I dream of being the fastest, it's my philosophy since I started skiing, nothing else ".
