Not just giant, not just the World Cup.
Ten days after the triumph of Killington, Marta Bassino will be back in the race today: the occasion is propitious, given that between this morning (11am) and Wednesday (start at 12pm), a double super-g will be staged in Sankt Moritz European Cup on the Corviglia that, next weekend, will host the World Cup with the super-g on Saturday 14 and the parallel slalom on Sunday 15th.
Here, then, that the Piedmontese chose to regain confidence with the competitive spirit in the continental circuit, to get ready for Saturday's fast test in which it aims to do very well, being a decidedly technical slope and on which, not surprisingly, the last year ended in 16th place.
In the last few days, Bassino trained in Val di Fassa, also giving ski lessons in ... direct tv to "Quelli che il calcio", and on the snows of Passo San Pellegrino, before moving to Sankt Moritz where today he will compete in first super-g (he will have bib number 33), which will be attended by many Italians already protagonists in the first seasonal races, by Jole Galli (9th in the Kvitfjell combined), who will be the Italian first in the race with the number 8, to Valentina Cillara Rossi and Giulia Albano, both fifth in the last super-g in Norway, but also Laura Pirovano herself (who will have a high bib number, 52). And be careful, because in Sankt Moritz we will also see Tessa Worley, starting with number 34 and also eager to test herself for her speed return, in a World Cup race, scheduled for Saturday.
And the fans of the "Fan Club Marta Bassino" are literally unleashed: the organization has already been activated for the trip on the occasion of the next CdM giant, set for Tuesday 17 December in Courchevel. Departure at 3 am from Borgo San Dalmazzo, return scheduled in the evening and cost from 25 to 40 euros depending on the number of reservations.
