Jeongseon is a county of South Korea, located in the Gangwon province. Until now it has hosted only two races of the Alpine Ski World Cup, the men's pre-Olympic of last season, a Descent won by Kjetil Jansrud and a Super G which saw triumph Carlo Janka.
A-level female has never hosted any race before today. Not only that, the next weekend will be the first women's events ever organized by South Korea.
There are consequently prior to reference. It is therefore worth remembering the situation of Downhill and Super-G of the season.
In the premier discipline they have up to now played 6 matches. undisputed star Ilka Å tuhec, winning three times (two in Lake Louise and Val d'Isere), 4 if you include the test rainbow of St. Moritz. A success for Lara Gut (Cortina), Christina Scheyer (Altenmarkt) and Lindsey Vonn (Garmisch-Partenkirchen).
In the ranking of specialties commands Štuhec with 437 points against the 360 of Gut and 300 Sofia Goggia, already three times on the podium (second in the first of Lake Louise and Cortina, third in Val d'Isere). Given the forced absence of Gut, the blue is the only still theoretically capable of lifting the cup to Slovenia, to which, however, just an eleventh place to show up in Aspen with the small crystal ball already on board.
5 are the SuperG hitherto went on stage. Lara Gut has won 3, Lake Louise, Val d'Isere and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Ilka Å tuhec the other 2, Cortina and Crans Montana. A rather surprising gold St.Moritz Nicole Schmidhofer. In the specialty ranking commands Tina Weirather with 306 points against the 300 of Gut and 290 of Å tuhec. Difficult, therefore, that the game on the cup of specialty may already closing in Jeongseon.
For Italy well 4 season podiums in Super G, 2 obtained from Sofia Goggia (third in Lake Louise and second in Cortina) and 2 Elena Curtoni (third in Val d'Isere and second in Crans Montana). Both, and with them Federica Brignone, are theoretically in the running for the small crystal ball; They should, however, be a long series of coincidences to be able to close the gap by Weirather and Å tuhec.
The Jeongseon Descent will be held Saturday, March 4, starting at 3:00 Italian, local 11:00; same hours for the Super G which will be staged Sunday, March 5.
