Nicol Delago is ready to return to "her" Lake Louise. "The tendon is not giving me problems, the condition is growing"

On 1 December 2020 the injury in Solda and a season in smoke when the first victory in CdM seemed only a matter of time. Now the Val Gardena sees the light and will open the gas at the beginning of December in the Canadian races.

Nicol Delago is in Saas-Fee these days, for another block in the snow (scheduled until Saturday 23) together with his sister Nadia and Francesca Marsaglia, but there are already several quality sessions that the 25-year-old sprinter from Val Gardena has managed to put together in a fundamental summer for his return. More than 10 months have passed since the terrible injury in Solda, when in training a few days after the first CdM speed races (Nicol had only competed in parallel in Lech / Zuers), he broke the Achilles tendon in his left leg . Goodbye World Championships in Cortina, on a track where he could have done very well, and many months to return to the Olympic season and aim for the second participation in the Games, perhaps together with Nadia who, in Nicol's pits year, has really grown a lot . If the Italjet has lost an athlete in great ascent like Laura Pirovano, at the beginning of December we will finally see a talent on the track again with 3 podiums in CdM to the active, although not competing in his disciplines practically since the pre-covid period, with the super-g of 29 February 2020 staged in La Thuile. The first test of the two runs of Lake Louise, on the track where Nicol obtained the first and only podium of his career in super-g (the other two second places in the runs of Val Gardena and Altenmarkt-Zauchensee), is scheduled for next 30 November , 12 months after the Solda crash which took place on 1 December 2020. "Finally I can say that I have overcome the most difficult period - explains the Val Gardena - In recent months I have worked hard from all points of view, starting from rehabilitation, to the next physical preparation, up to the last training on skis. The tendon has no longer given problems and everything is going well. The condition is gradually improving according to the planning of the objectives set for this important season ”. With the Olympic dream of an entire family, but the clear intention of immediately regaining the top in the World Cup.
