A lot of physiotherapy followed by Matteo Freo, during a couple of days of rest necessary after the tour de force between the Levi slalom and the parallel of Lech / Zuers, where he brought home full booty.
Petra Vlhova, from the top of her leadership in the World Cup with three wins and four overall podiums in as many races, will return to prepare for the next appointment this Sunday. In “her” Alto Adige, the entire Vlhova Team led by Livio Magoni has prepared an ad hoc program for the Slovak champion to get to play for important points even in two races, at least on paper, not ideal. We are talking about the super-g of Sankt Moritz on December 5-6, on one of the most technical tracks of the circuit and which represents an absolute novelty in speed for Petra; from today until Wednesday, the giant world champion will train in Val Gardena exclusively on super-g heats, after having already worked at Plan de Gralba in pre Lech.
Wax tests are also planned and another test, that ... Covid which will be carried out on Tuesday before moving towards the Engadine on Thursday. But what can Petra Vlhova really do in Sankt Moritz? Difficult to predict, given that we are talking about a very tough track, with many blind passages, for a non-specialist; however, let's observe the escalation of the 25-year-old from Liptovsky Mikulas in this discipline, where she has competed only four times in the World Cup so far.
The first in Crans-Montana in March 2018, 40th in the super-g on Mont Lachaux, then three times in the past season; sixth in Bansko, ninth in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, even fourth in La Thuile when the World Cup was playing with Federica Brignone. Furthermore, also in 2019/2020 he played those valid for the combined at Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, coming out when the very first positions were being played, and in Crans-Montana with a test, just over half a second from the best time of Brignone, which had allowed him to play for the success in slalom (with a fork then fatal in the decisive head to head). And in the same triptych of Swiss races, she was fourth in the first descent ...
In short, the qualities are all there to do very well even in speed; for the World Cup goal, considering the possibilities between super-g and descent of people like Brignone and Shiffrin, heavy points will be needed also in this competition context.
