Slalom female Zagreb, born to Janica Kostelic who has never won

The World Cup Alpine Skiing starts from Zagreb. In the Croatian capital will take place the first test of 2017, a Special Slalom.

main city of Croatia, Zagreb has entered the calendar of the World Cup substantially thanks to Janica Kostelic, native right of the Croatian capital. Thanks to its business, the public of the former Yugoslav republic has been passionate about the sport enough to convince the FIS to organize on Sljeme mountain since 2005 one Slalom, which since 2009 is - snow and city of Monaco event permitting - the first race of the calendar year World Cup. In all, 10 of the slalom in Zagreb played so far, and despite the talent and the affection of the public house, Janica Kostelic has never managed to establish itself. The Croatian champions boasts one podium, third place on 5 January 2006; to local fans it went better with Ana Jelusic, that on 15 February 2008 he was second behind Tanja Pouitiainen. Queen of Zagreb has instead Marlies Schild, who won 4 times (2006, 2007, 2011 and 2012) Slalom therein disputed. The Austrian also boasts a second (2008) and third place (2005) for 6 podiums, of course records for this test. Particularly at ease on Croatian snows also Tanja Poutiainen, who won in 2005 and 2008, and Mikaela Shiffrin, who has won the last two editions dated 2013 and 2015. Höfl-Maria Riesch (2009) and Sandrine Aubert (2010) round off 'roll of honor of the Zagreb Slalom. Among those who have never won, plus Kostelic should be mentioned Kathrin Zettel, who finished second in the ranking of podium finishes at an altitude of 3, all second places obtained in 2006, in 2010 and 2015. Among the girls in business, however, plus Shiffrin also boast top three Sarka Zahrobska Strachova, third in 2007 and 2009, Frida Hansdotter, second in 2013, Veronika Velez Zuzulova, Michaela Kirchgasser, Erin Mielzynski and Nina Løseth, third, respectively, in 2008, in 2012, in 2013 and 2015. Also two podiums for Italy in Zagreb Slalom. The best result was second place won by Nicole Gius January 4, 2009, while Manuela Mölgg came third on January 4, 2011. The South Tyrol San Vigilio has always been happy in this race, so to be closed by 6 total times between top ten. The last blue top ten in eighth place, however, goes back to Chiara Costazza, obtained in the last edition held in 2015. The special slalom in Zagreb Female will be staged Tuesday, January 3 with the first run at 13:00 and the second at 16:15 hours.
