We are back in the unique scenario of Olympia delle Tofane after three years, at least at the World Cup level, when to win downhill on Ramona Siebenhofer and Sofia Goggia was still in the pits due to the injury at the beginning of the season.
This time in Cortina the queen of speed will be there and the Bergamo champion will open, ironically (for the tests there is also a draw for the top 10 of the WCSL, while Sofia will be able to choose her number for the race), the first of the two tests scheduled for Thursday, with start at 11.00.
On Saturday the fifth descent of the season (at 11.30, with the time shifted given what happened in Kitzbuehel with variations due to weather), to which the blue tip will probably still be a bit bruised after the blows suffered with the flight in the networks of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. Already tomorrow we will see which rivals could be really dangerous, but certainly the return of Breezy Johnson, who will start on the 19th, must be observed carefully as well as the tests of Gut-Behrami (3), Corinne Suter (5), Siebenhofer (7 ), Ledecka (9), Weidle (11) and Puchner (13), as well as Michelle Gisin who had missed the last speed races in Austria.
Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova, the first two of the general classification, will not take part in the tests and we should still see them in super-g, before the giant of Kronplatz; the second blue at the start in Thursday's training will be Marta Bassino, bib number 8 and returning downhill after having skipped practice and the race in Zauchensee. With 15, here is Nadia Delago who was an amazing fourth in the Salzburg area last Saturday, then Curtoni with 17 and Brignone with 18.
Nicol Delago will have the number 26, finally Marsaglia with the 29, Melesi with the 48 and Pichler with the 57, without forgetting in the startlist Alice Robinson, n ° 41 and very interesting to be evaluated also in descent, after the good done in the European Cup with the two second places in Orcieres-Merlette and the enormous progress in super-g, from 4th place in Sankt Moritz to seventh in the last race three days ago.
