A lot of surfing and now the athletic phase until August for Fede Brignone: "With skiing we will be serious from Argentina"

The Aosta Valley champion told "gazzetta.it", in a very special interview between her boundless passion for the sea and surfing and snow.

Federica Brignone is experiencing weeks of training and great fun at the same time, she who has a boundless passion for surfing and waves; not surprisingly, the winner of the 2020 World Cup has been involved in the environmental sustainability project “Traiettorie Liquide” for years. Interviewed by the online portal of the Gazzetta dello Sport, the champion from La Salle talked about her relationship between sea and skiing. “As a family we are passionate about water sports, as children we spent a lot of time at the sea as well as in the mountains, of course. We often went to Sardinia and half of my family is from Savona: I have always had a strong contact with water, it has always attracted me. Ten years ago, on vacation in Costa Rica, there were waves and I tried: my mistake was not taking a lesson and I didn't learn correctly, I have problems with the take-off that I still carry around. I always try to take a surfing holiday, but doing it about 10 days a year is like starting from scratch. The most beautiful place? Nicaragua, where you completely disconnect from the world ”. In the post ski career, Fede would like to try to “learn to surf well, so that he can travel for surfing but not just for a few days a year. For now I consider it more a deadlift, but when I have the chance I live it intensely: I stay in the water for hours, until I can't lift my arms anymore. I like being in the water, but not only: I often stop for hours on the beach to watch the good surfers. Skiing and surfing? Two different worlds, but in both cases there is a strong contact with nature ”. Brignone is ready to start again on skis too, but with a long athletic phase before committing to the snow: "Now I leave with the preparation, which will be my focus until the end of August apart from a few days on skis on the glacier, then I will go to Argentina and I'll always start skiing. I don't feel like I have arrived, I think I still have things to prove and it seems to me that I have not yet reached my maximum on skis - her words - The beauty is that in our sport, every day you have to adapt to something, I think I never having made a curve the same as the other: you are always looking for the perfect curve, which probably does not exist. Even in the World Cup season, every now and then it seemed to me that I didn't ski at my best: there is always a search, there is no perfect heat and it is something a skier is always looking for. As a surfer he is always looking for the 'perfect wave'.
