After Lenzerheide, where the women's cup will see super-g and giant staged next weekend, it will be time for Are for the pink circus, which will return to Sweden for the last stage before the Courchevel-Méribel finals.
Today the FIS officially confirmed giant and slalom after the usual snow check: on Friday 11 March the penultimate giant of the season will be held, with the first round scheduled at 15.00 and the second, under the spotlight as usual, at 18.00. The slalom of the following day, on the other hand, will start at 10.30 with the decisive round at 13.45.
This will be the theater of the probably decisive confrontation between Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin who have always done very well in Are: just think of the 2019 World Cup, with the Slovakian in gold in giant and the American in the consecutive world champion in slalom, before everything was canceled in 2020, due to the pandemic on the way, just on the eve of the three scheduled races sanctioning Federica Brignone's final cup triumph, while 12 months ago two slaloms were held, with the first in the hands of Vlhova herself and the second dominated by Liensberger.
