Wendy Holdener has decided: no super-g in Val d''Isère, she wants to return to the top in slalom and giant

After the fracture in September and a difficult start to the season, the Swiss chose to train with Semmering and Zagreb in mind.

She is a veteran of the giants of Courchevel who cost her the first merit sub-group, with a 21st place between the two races in Savoy which are added to the 26th of the opening in Soelden. Only two days after her debut on the Rettenbach, Wendy Holdener decided to start her season regularly, just back on skis after a six-week break due to a fractured fibula head remedied in training at the beginning of September; Almost two months have passed since that first World Cup race, but things did not go very well for the 27-year-old Rossocrociata, who was also forced to change her working method with her new coach, the Austrian Klaus Mayrhofer (after so many years with Werner Zurbuchen). Beyond the difficulties between the wide doors and the 20th place in the PGS of Lech / Zuers, Wendy did not convince too much even in the two slalom of Levi, even if she obtained two fourth places. So, to level up after wasted time in the last part of the post-injury summer preparation, here is the choice to give up the first super-g of the season, scheduled for Sunday in Val d''Isère. The decision came today, after having already said “no” to the downhill tests on the Oreiller-Killy: as Swiss-Ski has made official, Holdener will focus on training in view of the next appointments with the technical disciplines. We are talking about the two days of Semmering, with giant and slalom in Austria on December 28-29, and of the slalom in Zagreb on January 3; certainly, however, the renunciation of the opening super-g was not painless for the Swiss, on the podium of this discipline also last 9 February in Garmisch, when he finished third as two years earlier in Crans-Montana, the '' another top 3 obtained in speed.
