An impressive second heat, as a young phenomenon.
It was only a matter of time for the first victory in the European Cup, after the 2nd place last month at Meiringer, and Alexander Steen Olsen wasted no time, winning the very last race of the continental season, today's slalom on the snow of Reiteralm.
The Norwegian-born 2001 talent was sixth after the first heat, commanded ex aequo by Holzmann and Raschner, but in the decisive one he trimmed almost a second to everyone, with the German second at 46 cents and the Austrian third at 51, ahead of Haugan and Rochat, other elements that have been on a permanent basis in the World Cup for some time. For Steen Olsen, the debut in the maximum circuit took place in Bansko, then the new call for the two technical races of Kranjska Gora: he has not yet obtained points, competing with bibs and in almost impossible conditions, but after the disappointment of the World Championships jr (he was flying giant, to then go out in the 1st heat, ditto in slalom) the time has already come for a guy who can really go a long way in a national team like the Norwegian one.
Steen Olsen, among other things, has almost reached the permanent position in slalom for the next World Cup, as he finished in fourth place in a continental ranking brought home with the thrill by Billy Major, today disappointing in the 2nd heat, ahead of the German Tremmel and Rochat himself.
