The plans of all the main white circus national teams change, either because of the immediate impossibility of facing the trip overseas in September for training in South America, but also in the medium-long term for the cancellation of the North American competitions, which will lead everyone to stay in Europe also in November.
And France, as the head of the men's speed sector, Xavier Fournier, explained to Ski Chrono, has implemented the new program that will start as early as Monday 24 August, with five days on the Zermatt glacier where the Italian downhill skiers and many are already training other World Cup athletes. Without Adrien Theaux, who is still recovering from the serious injury last January, and with Brice Roger who continues to work cautiously on the track, Mathieu Faivre and Victor Muffat-Jeandet will join the transalpine group, busy with speed thinking about super-g and combined.
“Without the trip to Chile and then between Copper Mountain and Panorama, we are rethinking everything and we will go to Tignes (from 10 October, ed) and perhaps to Zinal. In the meantime, in Zermatt we should train with the Swedes, then we will return on September 4th for a second training and from the 20th of the month we will be in Saas-Fee ”, said Fournier of the Equipe de France menu.
France which will host, after the cancellation of the Lake Louise and Beaver Creek races, the opening of the speed for the men's sector next 12-13 December in Val d''Isère, one week after the technical races on the Face de Bellevarde, advance seven days to make room for the jetmen on the Oreiller-Killy. "Obviously for us this is a positive factor - Fournier's words on the matter - hoping to be able to try the track that will not be so easy, also because there has been little competition in recent years".
The last time in December 2016, when the canceled races in Beaver Creek were recovered, but in that case due to lack of snow in the Colorado resort. And not like this year because of the damn Covid ...
