Markus Waldner, FIS Director of the Alpine Ski World Cup and Hannes Trinkl, head of security, have inspected the Stelvio track in Bormio, which will host two Cup races between Christmas and New Year. Positive comments are also the news related to the snow-making and the tunnel in the Fontana Lunga area, at about 2000 meters, which will allow tourists to use during the days of the tests and during the races of all the other slopes of the Bormio area. For the descendants the tunnel will represent a new wave to face during the dive on the Stelvio after about 30 seconds of race!

The Valtellina locality will host two men's trials: the classic downhill run on the Stelvio track on December 28th and the day after the SuperG. RAI 2 will cover the event with live on site to guarantee the maximum diffusion of the event.
At the presentation conference held in Bormio on 20 September, the local authorities, the FIS summits and the representatives of the FISI, who will coordinate the activities of the Organizing Committee, were present. We propose some statements taken from the site altarezianews.it
"The two days of the World Cup is an event of extraordinary importance for Bormio - underlined the mayor Roberto Volpato - and the Stelvio is recognized by everyone as a qualitatively exceptional track. I hope there is a significant intervention on the part of the population so as to be able to propose a level manifestation, as they are often organized in Bormio. The town is obviously ready to support the organization ".
Absent President Flavio Roda, Secretary General Loretta Piroia intervened. "The FISI has assumed the role of leading body for the organization of the two World Cup events with the aim of bringing together the companies, the bodies, the local skills in the formation of a new committee that will have to manage the tenders foreseen also in the next 3 years".
The managing director of Bormio Ski - Valeriano Giacomelli - highlighted the commitment made by the company plants with the development of the snowmaking equipment and the construction of the tunnel that at the end of the Sertorelli canal will allow the bypass of the Stelvio slope. This will guarantee the numerous tourists present at the end of December to enjoy the ski area of Vallecetta, without interfering with the test of jet men ".
Markus Waldner and Hannes Trinkl underlines the "Important construction of the tunnel at the end of the canal. This will allow a correct coexistence between athletes and users of the ski area. Bormio has one of the three most beautiful and difficult tracks in the world: indeed for my colleague Trinkl - who has also won one of the descents here in Bormio - is perhaps the number one ".
The regional councilor with a delegation to the mountain Massimo Sertori concluded the press conference. "Markus claims that the Stelvio is one of the three best downhill slopes in the world. I from Valtellina are proudly part of and I say that is the best ever. The Region believes in this two-day World Cup, supports it and believes that the media coverage will be of benefit to Valtellina and Lombardy. We are ready and available as a Valtellina territory for the Olympic Games of 2026, and just in these days with the Milan-Cortina nomination we have embarked on a path that we hope will reach the assignment. I like the unity of intent that is being created and I thank all those who will work in the organization and make the realization of the event possible ".
