Maximilian Lahnsteiner dominates the sixth super-g of the European Cup season, for a success that means further increasing the margin at the top of the general classification of the continental circuit.
After the two descents won respectively by Arvidsson and Schuller, today at Orcières-Merlette the fast men are again protagonists and in particular the 24 year old Austrian, able to beat Stefan Rogentin by 19 cents and by 4 tenths his compatriot Raphael Haaser, who follows him also in the overall. Down from the podium by a few cents the hosts, Cyprien Sarrazin and Roy Piccard (4th and 5th respectively at 45 and 48 cents), ahead of the specialty leader, the Swiss Ralph Weber.
It was also the race of fear for Giovanni Franzoni: 9th in the first descent, yesterday 28th after having clearly missed a jump, today the 19-year-old from Brescia came out (after a good first intermediate) leaning into the curve to the right and then flying on the bump that he could not absorb, being already lying on the snow. The blows will come out, but for the blue talent everything should be ok even in the alpine combined perspective (his race), which will be staged later even if the weather conditions in the transalpine station are not simple, so much so that the same super-g this morning was interrupted several times.
The best blue in the end was Federico Simoni, 22nd at 2 ”26 and 8 cents ahead of Federico Paini, 24th, with Pietro Zazzi 30th. On the other hand, Dalmasso was out of thirty (the race of the Veneto 2000 class was good anyway, just over two tenths from the points), Cason, Filippi, Molteni, Ranzi and Rizzi, while Abbruzzese did not finish.
