His favorite slalom is Madonna di Campiglio, but he admits that the races in Austria are those with the warmest public and able to get you into another dimension. Dave Ryding will go on the hunt for the first World Cup win, in the season that will see the beauty of 12 slaloms and 3 parallel ones (although only one is a real city event, in Stockholm, rather than a parallel giant); interviewed by Andreas Raffeiner of skiweltcup.tv, Ryding admits that the second places obtained so far in the maximum circuit (one in the 2017 Kitz slalom, the other in the city event of Oslo last January 1st) is no longer enough. "I can't predict the future, but I can only intensify my efforts to get more than I've already done - Dave admits, talking about what would be Britain's first victory in alpine skiing - I'm not the youngest looking for success in the Cup, but I still feel I have the time and the skills to do it. The truth is that in slalom at least 5-6 athletes can win and, when I succeed, I will certainly ... better. " On the preparation, no substantial change: "I will start my snow training in the second half of June, as usual in the ski dome of Wittenburg (in northern Germany, not far from Hamburg). With me there will be Laurie Taylor, one of the youngest guys on the team ". The opponents are many, but the first reference for Ryding is always Marcel Hirscher: "He is a great athlete, I have a lot of respect for him and he is a man for whom everyone admires. Ryding loves slalom at night, like on the 3-Tre of Madonna di Campiglio: "For some reason, it's a track that fits me and is even more beautiful because you compete under the lights. I believe that every slalom race should take place at night, the atmosphere is simply better for everyone, athletes and fans. If I have to indicate a super audience for the ability to create a unique show, it is certainly what we find in Schladming and Kitzbuhel: a crazy experience for any athlete â€.
