He is one of the great chances for Italy, the most awaited man of these World Championships and already one step away from the super-g medal.
All eyes on Dominik Paris, for the world descent scheduled for Sunday (starting at 11.00, live on TV on Eurosport and Rai Sport) on Cortina's “Vertigine”, tested today for the second and last time by jet men. With the champion of Val d''Ultimo best time trial, but a substantial balance that keeps all the predictions open for this fourth race of the world championships.
"Domme" will start with bib number 3: he chose Beat Feuz first and the Swiss champion went to number 7, with Matthias Mayer who opted for number 5. The 1 ended up with Vincent Kriechmayr, who will then open the descent world championship starting before Andreas Sander, who promises to be an outsider for tomorrow's challenge. Between Mayer and Feuz we will see another great downhill racer which is Thomas Dressen, even if obviously it will be the Bavarian's competitive return and it is difficult to expect a medal result.
France will focus on Muzaton (8), Clarey (9) and Allegre with 12, but also on Bailet who caught the 20th. Dangerous Max Franz, at the start for tenth and well before the reigning world champion, Kjetil Jansrud (bib 17), which, however, seems really far from the level of the best on this track. And if Baumann (number 13) could pack another surprise like in super-g, he'll play it all out with 15, the same bib as a super-g gone bad, Christof Innerhofer who didn't push today.
The other two Azzurri in the race: Matteo Marsaglia, 7th time in the last training and at the start with 24th, and Florian Schieder (5th today) really in great shape and starting 28th.
