The three days of Garmisch-Partenkirchen will end with a giant slalom, the last race before the World Cup if we exclude the City Event in Stockholm.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, municipality located in Bavaria, Germany, is one of the historical sites as far as the entire panorama of winter sports. As for alpine skiing, as well as several tests of the World Cup held since 1970, she has hosted the World Cup of 1978 and those of 2011, and gave birth to some of the greatest performers of the sport, from Rosi Mittermaier Maria Riesch to Höfl-Neureuther family.

Moreover, finishing third, Benjamin Raich has become the most senior gigantista (37 years and 1 day) to get on the podium in a World Cup race in this discipline.
The two tests that are assigned the iridescent gold were won by the two gigantism which numbers in hand, are the great interpreters of this specialty: Ingemar Stenmark won in 1978 ahead of Andreas Wenzel and Willi Frommelt, Ted Ligety is instead imposed in 2011 in front of Cyprien Richard and Philipp Schörghofer.
The same Ligety Hirscher guide along with the ranking of the podiums in the Giant of Garmisch-Partenkirchen: both are at an altitude of 2, however, the US can also boast the first place in the world above test for 3 top three totals in this race. No one else is finished for more than once between the first three; among them, Davide Simoncelli, who March 12, 2010 won the only blue podium in a Giant played the Bavarian snow.
The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Giant will be held Sunday, Jan. 29. The first race will start at 10:15 am, the second at 13:15 hours.
