John was the arm problem solved?
Yes, the problem has been solved and I definitely think about it. I changed the attending physician, I am being treated in Turin by a vascular surgeon who will want to see me after the whole December race. He nevertheless assured me that I do not run any kind of risk. In these two days of skiing in Val Senales I felt really good and it was the confirmation of not having more problems.
You're back to training after a month and a half stop ...
Yes, because we came back from Argentina on September 22nd and I put my skis back in Val Senales three days ago. In this month and a half, I continued to train from an athletic point of view, but at a low pace. I trained on my own at home. I had the support of my Christian trainer during which every day he gave me a program to follow. I did above all an aerobic job.
How did the training go in Val Senales?
It went great, it would have been a great workout even if we had found bad weather. Rather than being at home, any conditions I had found would have been perfect. We found really optimal conditions. There was a lack of visibility, but the snow was perfect and it simulated a lot of what we are going to find in America. A very aggressive snow, we did a good job.
So will we meet again in the giant of Beaver Creek?
Yes, the goal is that. We are doing a certain kind of work with Alessandro Serra. We are not forcing and we are not burning the times. The goal is not only to participate in the Beaver Creek giant, but also to get in shape as I was before this inconvenience happened to me.
Before the arm problem, how was the summer preparation?
The workouts were fine, but this arm pain showed up after two weeks in Argentina. He had been a little underestimated by everyone and so I continued to train, perhaps delaying the healing time.
A track where you would like to do well?
I really like the Val d'Isere track and the Gran Risa which is the home track.
The men's giant team is struggling to achieve good results. What's missing in your opinion?
After years of victories with Massimiliano Blardone, I think that in every discipline there is a generational change that has now happened and already this season we will be, with a new and revolutionized team, to make good results.
What are your goals for this season?
If this question had been asked me a week ago, I would have replied to be cured. Now I reply to be able to climb the rankings as soon as possible to qualify and play something at the World of Are.
What do you think of the Milan - Cortina candidacy for the 2026 Olympics?
In 2006 I was too young and I could not take part in the Torno Olympics. I think that here in Italy we could offer a lot and for us athletes it would be a beautiful thing.
