Henrik Kristoffersen could not understand why he no longer had the speed of the good times, both in giant (where the problems are obviously more important), but also in his slalom.
Sixth yesterday on the Gran Risa, a result however not to be thrown on a slope that is anything but suitable for his characteristics, twelfth today at mid-race on the track instead of which he loves most of all. Campiglio, the 3Tre conquered in 2015 and 2016 by beating a certain Hirscher, to then slip two more podiums in 2017 and in the last edition (held on 8 January 2020), did not seem to be his.
But in the second HK94 he was literally reborn, risking everything and making the most of the deterioration of the track (but in any case, the Norwegian was splendid to extricate himself having already started for 19th) to go and sign the twenty-second seal in the Cup of the World, eighteenth in slalom, obviously the first of the season and ... red bib immediately brought home, he who won his second specialty cup last season.
And the good Henrik was really moved at the end of the race: “It was like in Kitzbuehel 4 years ago (when he burned Marcel Hirscher for 3 cents, recovering from 12th position), but this victory is really very exciting for me - he confessed the 26-year-old from Lorenskog in the Rai interview - I went through a difficult period: I have family and skiing as priorities, and when one of the two things doesn't work it's hard ”.
The trio in Campiglio arrived in a completely different way compared to the previous ones, when he commanded with a margin already after the first heat: “A place with an incredible history and a slope that I particularly love, these are the secrets. The atmosphere is unique, even if this time there was no audience to support us. For me it is a unique victory ”.
