This is the last male giant before the Olympic Games, therefore also important for a whole series of choices towards Beijing 2022, although the global contingents will condition any type of evaluation.
Adelboden returns with his magical appointment on Chuenisbargli, with the public on the track (the two giants of 2021 were "ghosts") for the fifth seasonal challenge between the wide doors, starting on Saturday with the 1st heat scheduled from 10.30 and second at 1.30pm (both live on Eurosport 1 and Rai Sport).
Walter Girardi will design the first track (Austria for the 2nd heat), on which Luca De Aliprandini will go seventh. Not very lucky this time the draw for the Trentino, fresh from the first podium of his career in Alta Badia (when he started with the '1), but the conditions of the coat should be more than good, even if tomorrow morning a dusting of snow could arrive in fair amount. A litmus test for the transalpine, who wants to compete with the great favorite Marco Odermatt for a success that, for Switzerland, which is betting everything on the leader of the general, has been missing for 14 years in the home race.
He will start with the No. 3 “Odes”, with Meillard between the two great rivals, while the world champion Faivre will have the 4th and will precede Kristoffersen and Zubcic. After De Aliprandini, here are Braathen and Schmid (first podium in a giant of CdM, like De Aliprandini, right in the last exit in Badia), but pay attention to the possibilities of Gino Caviezel (n ° 10) and those of the Austrians, with Feller and Brennsteiner in series with 11 and 12.
And also Murisier, Radamus and Kranjec can play very important cards for various reasons, while outside the top 15 it seems difficult to see great entries, even if Windingstad (20) and Feurstein (23) can do very well. Giovanni Borsotti, who in 2020 was sensational 2nd in the 1st heat on Chuenisbargli (with De Aliprandini in the lead, before exiting in the 2nd), will start with 22, Ricky Tonetti with 25 to give the turning point to a season so far in shadow for the Bolzano player, then Simon Maurberger (36), Alex Hofer (40), the young Franzoni (46) and Della Vite (51), but also the return to the discipline of Alex Vinatzer, who competed only in Soelden and on Saturday there he will try starting last, with bib 62.
