A battle on the "Olympiabakken" and this time Aleksander Aamodt Kilde breaks the taboo of success at home, triumphing for the first time in Kvitfjell in a super-g definitely similar to a descent (but here it is nothing new, almost an obligation) and which also means second specialty World Cup for the Norge champion.
Six years after that first time, AAK takes home the crystal ball with a race to spare, signing the seventh seasonal gem, the fourth in super-g as, in a single season, only Hermann Maier has done in the past. (three times) and Aksel Lund Svindal. And in general, Kilde goes under 200 points behind Marco Odermatt, today even out of the winds, even if it is a mission impossible with the Swiss who will be able to close the accounts or almost with the two giants next week -end to Kranjska Gora.
What a race, with James Crawford now a reality and on the first podium in CdM after the Olympic medal, leading up to the last intermediate and beaten by just 7 cents. In third place is Matthias Mayer, last bogeyman for the cup of Kilde and on the podium at only 12 cents, while there are 21 missing from Kilde and 9 from the return to the top 3, never achieved this season in this discipline, for a great Dominik Paris. The only pity is the Tommy Moe-style smear, which probably cost that couple of tenths that would have changed everything, but the blue jet is a great 4th place, already completely found yesterday with the pearl in the second descent.
