All confirmed, Thomas Dressen will have to undergo hip surgery to solve a problem that had already conditioned him in the summer-autumn preparation, but as the Bavarian champion admitted he has been dragging on for quite some time.
The "Bild", as we reported yesterday evening, had anticipated the news of the stop for one of the most anticipated skiers also in the new season, starting in just over two weeks (even if the Val d''Isère stage is at risk and you could immediately go to Val Gardena). Today through the German federation, Dressen himself explained that “yes, surgery is necessary to resolve a situation that I have been carrying on for a couple of years. It was no longer possible to live with the pain, which has lately become unbearable ”.
Dressen had returned early from the United States, where he was training with his teammates, and the alarm went off to try to understand what to do to save the season: in fact, recovery times are uncertain and, only after the 'operation scheduled for Thursday in Munich, we will know more about the possibility of seeing him again during this season, with the recovery that would be useful only in the classic perspective of January, perhaps precisely for the Streif that he tamed in 2018, to then project himself towards the World Championships in Cortina. At this moment, however, the World Cup risks losing a great protagonist.
