Descent time on the Saslong, the most anticipated race of the two days of the World Cup in Val Gardena. The atmosphere will not be the usual one, either because there won't be any public tomorrow, or because in Italy there are no great hopes for a top result on the first of the home tracks (waiting for Bormio after Christmas). Today's super-g certainly did not exalt the Azzurri and tomorrow there is a risk of an encore, considering what we saw in practice and above all the conditions of a track that Paris and Innerhofer above all struggle to digest (and even the historian counts in this sense). At 11.45 am on Saturday (live on Eurosport and Rai Sport) the first to open the starting gate in the shadow of Sassolungo will be the Swiss Urs Kryenbuehl, the one who completed the surprise podium of the first season descent in Val d '' Isère. The second of that day, “Oti” Striedinger, will start fourth (immediately first look at Kjetil Jansrud with the 3) and the red bib Martin Cater for eighth. Preceding the Slovenian here is the great favorite, the ruler of the super-g Aleksander Aamodt Kilde who has already impressed in the only full test on the Saslong (Thursday), already tamed downhill in 2018. The prediction is open, because there are some very fast Americans (Ganong 2, Cochran-Siegle with 12, but above all Bryce Bennett, bib 16, and Jared Goldberg with 25), but also Kriechmayr (9) and Mayer (13) will not stay to watch, like the Swiss patrol led by Beat Feuz who chose the 15. High numbers for the Azzurri as well, and it might not be a bad thing: Dominik Paris will come out of the gate with 17, Christof Innerhofer instead received the lot on 18.
