The German Stefan Luitz, winner of the giant slalom of Beaver Creek, is currently only eighth on a par with the French Mathieu Faivre and Thomas Fanara who have lost 1'60s from Marcel Hirscher.

The race was disputed with lowered start, with about 20 ports less than a normal giant, due to the strong wind. A very short giant of about 52 seconds.
