On skiweltcup.tv the FIS Alpine skiing manager Markus Waldner explained the reasons for the cancellation of the Sölden giant and indicated the most likely venue where the race will be recovered.

"Unfortunately, more snow has fallen than we expected: instead of 20-30 centimeters, 50 have arrived - says Waldner -. Because of the strong wind it was not possible to remove 15 cm of snow in the upper part and the forecasts spoke of an additional 20 cm on arrival. Therefore, it was impossible to compete in a regular and safe race, as the fog and the wind took place too. The organizers did a fantastic job, yesterday's race was exceptional despite the fog in the lower part. We are happy that the snow has arrived, unfortunately a day early ".
"The rule of the recovery of the races canceled in the glacier was decided at the FIS congress and all the great nations have approved it - continues Waldner -. We have already started negotiations with the locations that could recover it. The race will be held before Christmas but not in America because in Beaver Creek there are already three races, so it will be held in a place where we have already scheduled races. We still do not have the organizers' ok and we need to clarify the financial side and the issue of TV rights. Tomorrow there will be an official statement from the FIS ".
In other words, keeping in mind everything that Waldner said, the two candidates are Val d'Isère and Alta Badia. We'll know everything probably already tomorrow ...
