An historic challenge, the hundredth of the maximum circuit in Val Gardena, with the Saslong which hopefully will return to being as polished as Thursday for race-1, before the super-g skipped today instead due to a weather situation that brought so much humidity on the track, with the really soft coat and also the fog at the top.
On Saturday instead, for the fourth downhill of the men's World Cup season, everything should be ok to be able to start from the top and face the more than two minutes of competition, unlike yesterday when, as established in order not to squeeze too much the athletes considered then also the giants in Alta Badia, the route has been shortened by about forty seconds.
At 11.45 (with live TV on Rai 2-Eurosport 1) the start is scheduled, with the winner of the "classic" race a year ago, Bryce Bennett, to inaugurate the startlist followed by compatriot Travis Ganong, also dangerous given what the Americans did in practice and considering the historic feeling with this snow.
Then Baumann with 3, another element to keep an eye on, and here is the triptych of Azzurri from the first two groups of merit, or Matteo Marsaglia who drew the No. 4, Christof Innerhofer with 5 and Dominik Paris, just 40th in yesterday's first descent, with number 6 ahead of the other big names. Matthias Meyer will have 11, but the two most eagerly awaited men will always be them, Kilde & Odermatt one after the other, with bibs 14 and 15. Close attention must also be paid to the highest numbers, starting from Allegre with 23 passing through Goldberg with number 25, just before Mattia Casse who will be the fourth of the eight registered Azzurri, with number 27 and the desire to put aside the half-disaster combined at Ciaslat in the first appointment in Gardena, given that the Piedmontese's potential on this track are evident.
Bosca and Molteni will still travel in tandem, at the gate for 35th and 36th, then Federico Simoni with number 50 and Florian Schieder, great 13th in downhill number 1, with number 53 to amaze again.
Giovanni Franzoni has given up on the start, whom we should see again in Alta Badia for the two giants on the Gran Risa.
