At 35 he still feels like a kid and, as he had said several times in recent months, he wants to try to get to Milan-Cortina 2026 to end a career spanning twenty years.
Christof Innerhofer will be a reference for the Italjet 2020/2021, after the halfway through the post-injury return season: in the interview given to colleagues from SportNews, the Gais champion spoke of the preparation for the Stelvio, but also of the Inner man and of future dreams.
"I come from a season that on the one hand left me with a sense of sadness for not being able to compete all year round, but on the other I am happy because I have always been one of the fastest in practice and this has given me a lot trust for what will come. I want to go out on the track as long as I have fun and feel as young as I am now: I am very motivated and I don't feel that I am in a downward parable, indeed. The beauty is that I still love to train: in the lockdown period I did 120 hours of work putting even a lot of bikes. And my colleagues told me I'm crazy ... ".
A Christof changed a lot off the slopes, more thoughtful and calm: “In the past I liked being in public, attending events and fashion shows: now it can happen to do it again, but I prefer to stay at home and if I can choose, I take a beautiful sunset in the mountains to live for one evening ”.
The South Tyrolean champion also decided to “invest in sustainability areas, mainly in areas and companies that existed 30 years ago and will continue to exist in 30 years. There will be many changes at a financial level after the Coronavirus and they will affect a lot of us athletes, because many realities will no longer be able to afford to invest in sport, a luxury that many will no longer be able to afford ".
