It is a temple like Wengen that has hosted the restart of the men's European Cup in the new year, and it is immediately an Italian victory in the first of the two super-g scheduled on the Swiss snow which, next week, will then see the very classics go on stage of the Lauberhorn Rennen.
Nicolò Molteni gave himself the first victory of his career on the circuit, after the two second places conquered, just a year ago, between the Tarvisio downhill and the Saalbach super-g; the 24-year-old from Como was amazing in the first part of the race, then resisting the return of the French Florian Loriot, second with 28 hundredths of a delay, while the Finnish Elian Lehto, also in the second place, lost half a second decisive in the final stretch, after leading up to a few seconds from the end with a 23 cents advantage over Molteni.
Bitter day for the Swiss hosts, with Mettler far away and Roulin's 4th place (+ 0"57) and Boisset's 5th, ahead of the Norwegian Fossland and his compatriot Kohler, 8th to 8 tenths with Florian Schieder , second blue in the standings, eighth at + 0”84. Giovanni Franzoni is also in the top ten, 9th at 1”12 on a par with the Austrian Rieser, but good points also arrive for the new father Lele Buzzi, 15th.
Further away, but still in the thirty Franzoso (23rd), Simoni (24th) and Zazzi (28th), out Alliod and Bernardi, no points area for Taranzano, Abbruzzese, Scussel and Talacci.
