The third and fourth of five scheduled races in the Dolomites will take place in Alta Badia: the traditional Giant on the Gran Risa is joined for the second consecutive year a Parallel Giant.

He entered in the calendar of the World Cup in 1985, the Alta Badia, together with that of Adelboden, the most beautiful and difficult Giant calendar. All the greatest interpreters of this discipline have written your name in gold, starting with Ingemar Stenmark, who won the first edition of December 15, 1985, up to Marcel Hirscher, the first in the last three editions dated December 22, 2013, 21 December 2014 and 20 December 2015.
In all, 31 of the Giant editions played on the Gran Risa and its voice is made by the blue-bearer. Alberto Tomba is in fact the one which has prevailed for the greatest number of times, well 4 (December 13, 1987, December 16, 1990, December 15, 1991 and December 22, 1994). Behind him, at an altitude of 3 victories are the aforementioned Hirscher, winner of the last three editions, Kalle Palander, the first in 2003, in 2006 and 2007, and another blue, Massimiliano Blardone.
The Ossola won the Giant Alta Badia 18 December 2005, then again 20 December 2009 and 18 December 2012. It is not enough, two other Italians have been able to establish itself in this race: the first is Richard Pramotton, which won 14 December 1986 in the historic edition of the triplet (Tomba was second and Oswald Tötsch third), the second is Davide Simoncelli, who won here 21 December 2003 the first of his two career victories.
at podium level also controls Italy: Tomb leads the standings with eight top three (4 wins, 2 second and 2 third places, among which are reminded that on 17 December 1995, which is that of the famous launch of the cup to the photographer), followed at 5 by Michael Von Grünigen and Davide Simoncelli, who in 2003 successfully adds 4 second places. blue podiums also arrive by Max Blardone (3, always first when it closed in the top three), Richard Pramotton (2, winning the December 14, 1986 and the second place the following day), Robert Erlacher (third December 15, 1985) Oswald Tötsch (third in the already-quoted proof of 14 December 1986), Matteo Nana (third December 22, 1996) and Patrick Holzer (according to December 20, 1998). In all, therefore, there are 22 Italian podium in Alta Badia Giant.
To conclude the discussion concerning this race, it should be remembered that in addition to Marcel Hirscher, only Ted Ligety between active athletes has been able to impose itself on the Gran Risa. The US has done it two times, the first December 19, 2010 and the second December 16, 2012.
Giant Slalom in Alta Badia will take place Sunday, December 18; first heat scheduled for 9:30 am, according to 12.30.
As mentioned, the Alta Badia will host for the second consecutive year a Parallel Giant, planned starting at 18 Monday, December 19th. In the only edition it held twelve months ago, successfully Kjetil Jansrud front of Aksel Lund Svindal and Andre Myhrer.
