The players called up to Italy for the weekend dedicated to technical disciplines in Val d''Isère: Vinatzer and Maurberger the only ones to compete in both races.

Nine blues for the second giant of the season, six slalomists for the specialty opening, with double commitment only for two athletes.
This is the Italian menu for the technical races on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December in Val d''Isère: the challenge at the "Face de Bellevarde" will begin between the wide doors and there will be only one change in Roberto Lorenzi's team compared to Soelden. In fact, Alex Hofer is back in the team, unlucky protagonist of the first two seasonal giants of the European Cup, alongside Luca De Aliprandini, the only blue in the first group, Giovanni Borsotti, Riccardo Tonetti, Filippo Della Vite, Giovanni Franzoni, Hannes Zingerle, Simon Maurberger and Alex Vinatzer.
“Maubi” and “Vinny” will also participate in the slalom the following day, the first World Cup round for the specialty: there will be six blues on the track, with Stefano Gross, Manfred Moelgg, Giuliano Razzoli and Tommaso Sala completing the team. The last blue podium in Val d''Isère dates back to 2019, when it was "Sabo" Gross who won a great 3rd place, with the only other top 3 in slalom on the "Face" brought home by Patrick Thaler in 2013 (always in 3rd place).
In the giant of the Critérium de la Première Neige, on the other hand, the history of Italian skiing brings back four victories, two by Gustavo Thoeni (1969, 1975) and two by Piero Gros (1972, 1974). There are also four second places (Schmalzl in 1973, Gros in 1976, Blardone 2008 and 2009) and 5 third places (Thoeni 1970, Schmalzl 1972, Gros 1973 and 1975, Blardone 2010).
