The Men''s Olympic Downhill in Lake Louise is ready to host the first two descents of the 2021/22 World Cup, with the men anticipating, with the novelty of the double date before Sunday's super-g, the classic women's triptych scheduled next week.

And immediately after the Norwegian here is Marco Odermatt, looking for heavy points for the general cup in a race that will also see Alexis Pinturault at the start (5th descent in CdM for the transalpine), registered with bib 31.
Maximum attention to Max Franz (n ° 3), very fast in the two tests and here winner in 2018: the Carinthian seems to have found his best level after the many physical problems following the accident in Kitzbuehel, as well as looking for the best sensations Christof Innerhofer, starting fourth on the track that gave him the penultimate podium in a World Cup descent, with second place 3 years ago (just behind Franz and in front of Paris). At the dawn of 37 years, "Inner" approached this new Olympic vintage with complete confidence and, even if the Men''s Olympic Downhill does not fully exalt its technical qualities, there is the conviction that it can do well at least in a top ten key.
Those who have already turned 40, on the other hand, are the eternal Johan Clarey, bib 5 to precede Bryce Bennett (not to be underestimated) and the world champion Vincent Kriechmayr, who in practice appeared decidedly far from the best but is still a man capable of anything. The third Austrian at the start, Daniel Hemetsberger, will pave the way for Beat Feuz, number 9 and in "red" for 4 years now, he who will look for the historic five consecutive downhill cups and find a place where he won, obviously downhill, in 2017.
Bailet with 10, the vice world champion Sander (not bad in practice) with 11 before Ganong and Matthias Mayer, who in turn was not very brilliant in training. With the 14th Martin Cater, who sensationally won last year's opening in Val d''Isère (here, however, the compatriot Kline, who will start on the 24th, seems more competitive), then after Paris here is another great return, that of Ryan Cochran-Siegle (bib 16) who has shown that he is already in good condition.
With 17 attention to Romed Baumann, really back at excellent levels, and another “old fox” like Kjetil Jansrud, in the last season of his career, will follow with 18 before Striedinger and Goldberg to close the first two sub-groups.
The Italjet will also count on Matteo Marsaglia (n ° 28), in the first race as a new dad on a track where a good handful of points would already be good, on Lele Buzzi who will start with 34, a couple of numbers before Mattia Casse, in fact returning after a lost season almost entirely due to an injury a year ago in Cervinia. Riccardo Tonetti, preferred to Molteni and Zazzi, will come out of the gate with 42 to look for the first points of the downhill career, the same goal as “Gugu” Bosca, who started 49th.
