An unprecedented super-g, given that it hasn't been seen in Wengen for 28 years, and particular given that it is the third attempt to play it, considering that it is the race canceled first in Lake Louise and then, last December 30, in that of Bormio. The fifth seasonal specialty race, the last one before the Olympic Games, will be staged on Thursday, starting at 12.30 (live TV on Eurosport 1 and Rai Sport) on the Lauberhorn which will then host two descents on Friday and downhill; the favorite is always him, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, back from three victories one behind the other between Beaver Creek, Val Gardena and Bormio, where he really scared everyone, trimming abysmal gaps, but as mentioned the challenge of tomorrow hides pitfalls and possible surprises. AAK will go after consecutive poker as only Hermann Maier (twice) and compatriot Aksel Lund Svindal have done in the history of the super-g, and will come out of the gate with the number 11 after the direct rivals who could have chosen before him. Vincent Kriechmayr, who opted for the 5, is the great doubt of the eve given the quarantine that forced him to skip the downhill tests and the consequences of the races on Friday and Saturday, but we will find out only in the next few hours if he can really get out of the gate to continue fighting in the fight to defend a cup of discipline that currently sees Kilde in command. Marco Odermatt will look for another masterpiece at home, after the one in the giant of Adelboden: bib 7 for the Nidwalden phenomenon, with captain Beat Feuz to precede him with 3, after Travis Ganong who will have 1. And pay attention to Mayer (9), to the returning Haaser (15), for the first time on a podium of CdM in Bormio in the last super-g disputed, in Cochran-Siegle with 17 (the layout will be American) but also to the blue patrol, remembering that Alexis Pinturault will not be there, choosing to focus only on next Sunday's slalom. Dominik Paris had a good draw and will start with 6, between Kriechmayr and Odermatt, to try to redeem the difficult race in Bormio and in general find a feeling also in this discipline, of which he is also world champion 2019 (same year in which he conquered even the specialty cup); then there will be a lot of anticipation on Mattia Casse, bib 14, who is the best pure specialist in Italy and still dreams of the first podium in CdM, perhaps to be conquered on the track where he won in the European Cup. Christof Innerhofer, very brilliant in practice, will have the number 16 and will precede Tonetti (31), Bosca (32), Franzoni, with 35 in his second super-g in the maximum circuit, Buzzi (38) and Marsaglia, forced again to a very high number (48) and called to unlock also in "his" discipline, after having done very well in the first seasonal descents.
